Can you say crazy???

Today has been one of those days where I feel like I could rip out my hair from all the whining that Savannah has done. Most days I can handle it. Today however, has been one of the "whining for no reason" days. Even when she is cranky....she is still so cute. Here is an example......

Savannah was whining at me because I wouldn't let her take the wipes out of the box while I was changing her diaper.

Me: Savvy you are going to make Mama crazy! Can you say crazy???

Savvy: Da-da!

Me: HA HA HA!!! No Savvy....can you say crazy?

Savvy: Da-da!

Me: (yelling for Bryan) Honey....come here...Savvy has something to tell you.

(Bryan comes in the room) Savvy can you say crazy?

Savvy: Da-da!

Bryan: What are you teaching her to say???? (Bryan laughing too)

Me: (laughing) I did not teach her to say that....she said it on her own!

How classic is that???? It just proves she is my daughter! I love how when I am most frustrated, one small thing she does can just make my day and turn it around. I love that girl!

Yummy Goodness!

Yesterday I decided that I wanted to make some banana bread. I did not have a recipe for one, so I went on this website that I have that is full of recipes. I found a recipe that sounded really good and people were commenting on how yummy it was. So, I decided to try it. It came out so good!!!! I thought I would share it with all of you.

Banana Bread

3-4 ripe bananas, smashed (I used 3, but next time I will use 4)

1/3 cup of melted butter

1 cup sugar (can easily reduce to 3/4 cup)

1 egg, beaten

1 tsp. vanilla

1 tsp. baking soda

pinch of salt

1 1/2 cups of flour

1 tsp. cinnamon

1/2 tsp. nutmeg (optional)

nuts (optional)

You don't need a mixer for this recipe, just a spoon and some arm muscle!

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. With a spoon, mix the butter into the mashed bananas in a large mixing bowl. Mix in the sugar, egg, and vanilla. Next, add the baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt and mix it in. Add the flour last and mix. Pour the mixture into a buttered 4x8 inch loaf pan. Bake for 1 hour. Once it is finished, let it cool. Remove it from the pan, slice and serve.

(Mine did not take an hour to cook. I made a double batch and did not have two of the same pan. One took about 30 minutes and the other took about 45 minutes. I had also been cooking in the stove already so it was hot before I started the bread. Just watch the bread closely and when it is a golden color and you can put a toothpick in it and it comes out clean it is done!)

Hope you like it! I thought it came out awesome!!!!!

Mama's Grumpy!

Well......maybe I'm grumpy because my baby girl (who just turned 18 months on the 20th) has decided in the last month that she isn't going to eat anything except pasta, or maybe it's because she has decided that sleeping in no longer a necessity, or maybe it's because I can't get the theme to Sesame Street out of my head.....All I know is that I am tired and I am grumpy! It sucks!

Anyway, I know it has been a while since the last blog. I just have not been all that inspired to write. We really haven't done anything all that exciting lately. We did go to the fair, but I don't have many pictures from that because my camera died. Other than that, we just sit at home all week watching Sesame Street.....I tell no lies. Savannah has discovered the show and has to watch it all the time. She bursts into tears when Elmo's World goes off. It's actually really cute. She'll come running to me with tears rolling down her face and says, "Elmo bye-bye, Elmo bye-bye." So...to keep myself sane until daddy gets home from work, we watch it again! Thank goodness for nap time, or I would watch it ALL day! We won her a Cookie Monster at the fair and it is almost the same size as her. She has to go to sleep with it every night. If we don't have it, she growls at us. (her imitation of Cookie and way of telling us we forgot him.) Bryan says I have got to be tired of watching the show so much. I am okay with it....it's her whining whenever there are people on the show instead of puppets, that makes me crazy! She is such a character!

I just wish I could get the child to eat and sleep. She is not a picky eater. She has always eaten pretty much everything. She just fights us. For some reason she has decided that smacking our hands away and throwing her food on the floor is more fun than actually eating it. Do they make baby straight jackets???? j/k. I would settle for high chair arm straps. LOL. The sleeping is what is getting the best of me. For instance.....she woke us at 1:30 last night and I couldn't get her back to sleep. It was 4:15 before she went back to sleep. See why I am so grumpy??? Now...one night isn't that big of a deal, but this happens at least 3 times a week. Fun times for Mama!

Has your child done this???

I was getting ready the other day and I turned around to find my daughter like this. I guess you could say that she has found a new use for her potty! Don't worry though...It's clean! My mom's friend says this makes her a "pothead." I personally think that she has updated the "swirly." What do you think??? Has your child done this?

What a weekend!

We had a busy few days this weekend and most was irritating. It started with the cable guy coming over to replace our DVR box for the 4th time. When we moved to this house, we had to switch companies because the one we were with was not available here. Anyway, the first box we got broke. It just stopped working. The second box wouldn't record shows. The third box overheated and now we have the one that we just got. So far, it hasn't failed us.

Then, we spent a good hour on Friday trying to figure out how to get replacement parts for the computer armoire we just bought a few weeks ago. We bought it online and when it arrived, some of the parts were broken. We got the replacement parts from the company, put it together and everything was great. Then, on Friday, I went to close the door on the armoire and it just fell off. So, we had to call the company again and try to get the parts to replace it.... again. The problem was we didn't have the instruction manual anymore or the ID # for the part that broke. We finally figured it out, but it was annoying for a little while. We spent the rest of Friday watching a movie and spending time together. Woo Hoo for family time!!!!!

Saturday, we went to Lowes and bought the blinds for our house. The house we are living in is over 60 years old and was in desparate need of new blinds. When we painted we put newspaper on the windows so that people wouldn't be able to look in. Well, we just hadn't had the time or the money to get them replaced. My brother came over one day and told us that the house inside looked good, but we should get curtains or blinds because we look like we live in a "crack house." That's when we decided we should get something up....LOL. After our trip to Lowes, Bryan's dad came over and we made dinner. Yummy! Steak!

Saturday night was not fun though. We got Savannah down to sleep and at 1:30, she woke up screaming. Bryan tried to get her back to sleep, but after 40 minutes brought her into our room. She just cried and cried. Long story short....she didn't go to bed until after 4 am.

Sunday, we decided to take Miss Savvy to the doctor. We thought that she might have a bladder infection or something like that because she kept grabbing herself and crying. Have I mentioned that I HATE HATE HATE going to the doctor? We took her to urgent care, who then assigned her some random pediatrician. The lady was very strange. Anyway, she decided that we needed to have her urine tested. Since she is too little to pee in a cup, you can guess what they had to do, which was NOT fun. We were supposed to come back an hour later for the results, which ended up taking longer than that because the very strange and random doctor decided she was going to take forever and chow down on some M&Ms before giving us the results. After nearly 4 hours at Kaiser we got the results, which came back "suspicious" as the doctor said. Finally, we had to go to the pharmacy get her medicine that she has to take for the next few days while they do a urine culture. Fun times!!!!!

That is pretty much how our weekend went. Now it is Monday and I don't like Mondays. I hope everyone else had a better weekend than we did.
